Speaking to the individual ingredients of the arrangement and expressing our authentic engagement with the natural world, students will use farm fresh flowers and spring branches to create curiosity- invoking floral compositions that embrace negative space and dramatic asymmetry. Students will learn the basics of Ikebana, a Japanese floral arranging tradition that brings together nature and humanity while emphasizing form and balance. Students will arrange their meditative arrangement into a hand- crafted ceramic vase, learn the mechanics of a flower “frog,” and take home their artful composition.
